Over Due Update

Jed has been bugging me about blogging for the last week. He likes to have something to read on his lunch break at work. I told him that I didn't have anything to blog about. He told me I was crazy and to think about the last week. While it has been busy, its not exactly interesting. For memory sake ( since mine decided to take a vacation about 7 years ago) I'll do "quick" list.

Cleaning Evan's school. (Its kind of a co op situation)

Seth's zoo field trip.

Evan's field trip to the Springs (this is the only thing I did without Ford and Kane in tow!). Oh and my camera died right after we got there so I didn't get a good picture of the boys tubing down the river. Boo!

A kindergarten ice cream party, with me as the chaperon. Ford was determined to destroy the classroom!

A Kindergarten program where Evan's class presents to us what they learned and welcomed Seth's incoming class for next year. (At least I got a two for one deal here!)

Jed's parents came for a visit.

Two more of Ford's teeth came in which may or may not have caused a fever and excessive grumpiness!

Trip to Yalaha bakery. The berry fields were open for picking so I took the boys out to get some organic blueberries, YUM! Of course true to their personalities, Evan meticulously picked every ripe berry from the bush before moving on to the next, Seth ran from plant to plant indiscriminately grabbing berries and for every berry Kane but in the bucket he snuck two in his mouth.

Joseph's graduation ceremony. Read: Jed's parents and me (Jed "had to work".... sure, Jed, sure :)) wrestling Kane and Ford for a couple hours waiting for Joe's class of 800+ to walk across the stage. So proud of Joe though! I can't believe he's going to be in college!

Seth's graduation program.

Two trips to the beach in 3 days.

Trip to the Sugar Mill for pancakes. I don't know what's in their pancakes but they are Ah-mazing! I can't believe it had been over 3 years since we'd gone!

Not only attending Joseph's grad party but cooking and delivering some of the food.

It's like schools try to cram every big event into the month of May, its exhausting when you have more than one kid, not to mention nieces or nephews. Seth has one more day of school and we're DONE! Looking forward to a nice relaxing summer break. Trying not to think about the nightmare that is next school year's schedule with both boys going to school across town with different pick up times. I'm going to ignore that and enjoy 2 months off!

A Tooth

On Tuesday Evan lost his first tooth.

It was just about nap time, Evan and Seth were hanging out, Seth was grouchy, Evan called him out for being grouchy, Seth told him he wasn't, Evan insisted he was, it went back and forth a few times, Seth got angry and punched Evan in the mouth. Evan punched Seth in the stomach. They both ran to me crying. As they were trying to out tattle each other all I could see was Evan's blood streaked face. Once I realized the only open wound Evan had was where his tooth use to be I gave Evan a napkin, told them both to chill out and sent them to take naps.

After seeing all that blood I was so relieved that I wasn't going to the ER I couldn't even lecture them, let alone discipline them!

Evan put his tooth under his pillow and got a dollar from the "mommy/daddy fairy" which he loved even though he initially requested, "some kind of sweet food, ya know, like candy or ice cream".

A Sunday

We opened the pool for the first time this year!

Evan took to the water like a fish.

I tried to convince Seth he didn't need his floaties anymore, considering he can touch in the shallow end, although barely.

While in the middle of the pool, standing on his tip toes he tried to swim lifting his feet from the bottom. He sunk like a rock, I dont think he was kicking or paddling, he thought he'd magically float to the top. He panicked. He went under. Hysterical flailing. I went in, fully clothed. Sigh.
I asked him why he didn't kick or paddle or perhaps even put his feet back down and stand up.

He wailed. And wailed.

I picked him up and held him for a while.

Then I let him go inside and take a shower.

Before the traumatic experience the boys had some watermelon.

Here are Evan and Seth enjoying their snack and Kane well being Kane.

Here's hoping for some better memories in the coming months of the pool!

Camping Debacle

At the last moment we planned a camping trip for mother's day weekend. Usually its too hot for camping this time of year but a "cold front" was moving through with 60s at night and 80s during the day! We decided to go back to Tomoka state park. Two years ago we stayed here and really enjoyed it. The park itself isn't much to write home about but its surrounded by other little parks (that don't have campgrounds) that are beautiful and its very close to the beach!

We had a great time, visiting Washington Oaks state park, getting a bite to eat in downtown St. Augustine and chilling at the campground letting the boys play in the dirt. Just as I was getting ready to make dinner on Saturday (shepherd's pie over the campfire, yum!) Jed stepped out of our camper and his knee gave way. This is the second weekend in a row, poor guy!

Considering, he couldn't get in or out of the camper without excruciating pain nor could he walk without the assistance of a makeshift cane (see picture below) we decided to pack up and head home early.

I think the most frustrating part is that we have to wait until late fall when its cool enough to camp again! Boo!

Oh and I forgot to mention that one of our tires blew again! Thankfully it was on the way there when Jed still had full use of his knee!

Fake smiles for mommy!

Butterfly garden!

Rose garden!

Hanging out at Washington Oaks watching yachts and sailboats glide by on the intercoastal. This is out of focus but I'm using it because it might be the only picture I have taken or will ever take of all of them looking at the camera. It needed to be documented.

Ford swinging and actually smiling!

Birthday Party

My awesome husband made the most delicious brisket for dinner!

We had the weird side of the family over to celebrate. I kid, I kid! (about them being weird not about having them over)

The cake.

We sang happy birthday.

Then we stood around and watched Kane try to blow the candle out.

We waited and waited until someone finally helped him out.

Finally the real fun began!

It was awesome when he dove right in!

We were sure he was going to LOVE it!

I mean who doesn't love cake?!

Apparently this guy, especially on his hands.

Happy Birthday to you Ford!
