Motivation

This is what happens when Evan and Seth want to earn extra gaming time.

Seth's Birthday Part 2

We were still camping on Seth's birthday and our campground was near our favorite bakery.  

So we let him pick out his own pastry!  Yum! 

Later that night we were home, we opened presents and had birthday cake.  I always forget to buy the correct number candle so we added these up for his age.  :)

As it turns out, Seth and Ford, aren't big fans of cake. Who doesn't like cake?!

Donuts and/or ice cream for them, from now on, I guess. 

It has been such a blessing these last 7 years being the parents of this sweet boy!

Seth's Birthday Pt. 1

Side note, I can't handle that he's going to be 7.  

That being said, his school has today and Monday off so we celebrated yesterday with his class

And what better way to celebrate than with delicious doughnuts! 

He didn't know I was coming so his teacher blindfolded him and brought him out. 

 Then we started singing happy birthday!  

And his teacher spoiled him with a sweet card and CASH! Yes!  

Yup, he's the birthday boy!

Seth's First Tooth

He had been working on this tooth for a few weeks! We even tried the string and door trick to get it out but the string came off of his tooth.  

Finally after I tucked him into bed, he came running downstairs with his tooth in his hands.  We put it in an envelope and then under his pillow!  

Happy boy!  You can already see the permanent tooth coming in!  

He got $1 which he was quick to put in his piggy bank, smart boy! 

Now were waiting on Evan's top two wiggly teeth!  

Grandma

We went to Target the other day, after I made Ford try on this hat and sit for a picture we went to the women's section.  I was browsing clearance items when Seth called to me and said, "Mom, look at this grandma shirt!"  

 I guess to Seth my mom is glitzier than me. 

Speaking of my mom, I was in the kitchen glazing a turkey when Kane came in, sat down and started a odd conversation,

Kane: "Mom, can you tell me your secret ingredient now?"

Me: "What are you talking about?"

Kane: "You know the secret ingredient in your recipe."

After peppering him with questions to try to figure out what he might be thinking of and getting nowhere I decided to roll with it. 

Me: "You know Kane if I tell you the secret ingredient then it wont be a secret anymore."

Kane: "Ohhh, I get it! (I thought we were done but then he throws this out there.)  You don't want grandma to know so she can't cook like you!"  

 Me: "Why would you think that?" 

Kane: "Hahaha, nevermind." (Said like I was an idiot that never gets anything.)

Kane: I just like it Evan.

Evan: Well, you should stop, I stopped sucking my thumb before I turned three...

Seth: Evan, you never sucked your thumb.

Evan: Oh yeah.

4 Brothers and a Tree Frog

Big brother caught a tree frog.

 After much begging he gave little brother a turn holding it.

That was scary and fun!

Kindergarten Program

Seth's class put on a program earlier this week to show their parents what they learned this year.  They recited poetry, pledges, and the alphabet.  

It was too cute!  What was not cute was Kane and Ford's behavior.  I had hoped they would be entertained enough watching their brother that they'd sit quietly.  Unfortunately that was not the case.  Ford was ready for a nap and made that known by throwing multiple fits when asked to do anything.  Then he and Kane began blowing raspberries at each other. It was a scene and with Isla in my arms there really wasn't much I could do about it.  

Anyway, they also handed out memory books and a huge envelope filled with pictures of the year. It's nice to have a little glimpse into what went on while they were at school.  

In the memory books are funny quotes from the kids. One of Seth's quotes was from the day after Isla was born.  Seth pointing to May 9th on the calendar told his class, "Baby Isla will be born every year in May on this day!"

Holy Moses

For the end of school program last night, the boy's school put on a play/musical.  

Usually only fifth graders and up get a part in the play (for maturity reasons) but they had a part that needed to be filled by someone small.

The director met with all the Kindergarteners (all 3 of them) and because Seth could follow instructions (the first time) he was given the part of Baby Moses!  We're so proud of him.  

Evan was in the choir and despite his momma's attempts at distracting him, to make him smile, he was focused on his lyrics and hand motions!  

All the kids did a fantastic job and it was a joy to watch!  

First and Last

Today was the last day of school!  I took pictures of the boys on their way out the door so I could see how they've changed since their first day.

The Lesser Known; Abengers

According to Evan, Seth and Kane this superhero group is made up of, Thorn, that one girl, The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and Hot Guy.  

Apparently Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America are pulling double duty with the Abengers and the Avengers. Impressive, even for superheroes.  

Birthday Boy!

Seth turned 6 this weekend!  I can't believe he's 6, wasn't he a baby just yesterday?!

  When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner he told me he wanted to eat Subway at the beach.  That was a little over a week ago and although what he wanted to eat changed many, many times the location stayed the same.  

We woke up early Saturday morning, sang happy birthday, ate birthday doughnuts and packed up for the beach.  For the last few weeks the weather has been pretty much the same every day, chilly in the mornings, warming up to perfect beach weather by 10, and then unbearably warm by 2pm.  Of course the weather broke its pattern this weekend.  

I don't think we saw the sun once on Saturday, in fact the closer we got to the beach the dark the skies became.  We also lost about 5 degrees while gaining stiff winds.  

For the sake of the birthday boy and the ridiculous amount of gas we wasted driving out, we endured, and when I say "we", I mean, Jed and I, the boys wouldn't have cared if it was snowing!  

While I sat in a chair, wrapped in a towel, the boys took their new boogie boards (one of Seth's birthday presents) into the surf.  They rode the waves for as long as they could, until they finally broke down with blue lips and uncontrollable shivering.  Even so, as we drove home Seth announced that it was the best birthday of his life!  

The rest of the day was spent playing his new Wii game while waiting for his new remote control monster truck to charge, driving his truck around the house and finally making our way to McDonalds for Happy Meals (he finally settled on his choice for dinner).

I was far too cold to get pictures at the beach so you'll have to settle for McDonalds pictures.  It was only their second Happy Meal ever so it was quite the novelty!

New Ride

Yesterday I took Seth out on a date for frozen yogurt.  On our way home we passed a garage sale and both happen to notice a bike that looked about his size.  He's been begging for a bike for his birthday so he of course wanted to stop.  Thankfully we did, the bike was in decent condition and they only wanted $1.50 for it!  It doesn't have training wheels but apparently he doesn't need them because as of this morning he was zipping up and down the sidewalk!

This is the bike Evan got for his birthday, Jed found it in a neighbor's trash pile.  He painted it, replaced the chain and filled the tires with air.  

Our boys are living out the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
