Naughty Round 2
Just playing a little angry birds on mommy's phone, no biggie.
Oh no, she caught me! I've gotta hide!
She'll never find me now!

Naughty
We put up a gate at first for her own safety but as it turns out she's actually quite adept at climbing the stairs.
So we took down the gate and began the "don't go downstairs without mommy" training.
She's been, resistant. :)
Blatantly so at times.
More deceptive at others. She thinks if she's low enough to the ground, where the stairs cover her eyes and she can't see me then I can't see her. Not so sweet girl, not so.
Wish us luck on this venture.

Isla's First Birthday
Where has the year gone?!
Here she is on her last day as an infant!
Of course we had to go shopping! We checked out the toy aisle, party supplies and finally we picked up food for her birthday dinner!
Then we picked up the cake!
Plans changed at the last minute and daddy had to work late so I took the kids to Chick fil a for dinner instead!
Just before bed daddy came home and we had cake!
She loves her daddy but she doesn't share dessert with anyone!!
Kane was very amused watching his little sister pig out on her doughnut!
The following Saturday we had a birthday dinner with the extended family.
I baked 3 cakes. I had planned for 2 but had left over batter so I made a third. The boys had no problem taking out the extra cake.
Cousin Oakley came over to celebrate. Isla greeted him with one of her new found skills, kisses!
All the littles enjoyed doting on their youngest cousin.
On to the main attraction, baby + cake!
Yummy and Hilarious!
Happy Birthday Isla!!

Isla at 11 Months
She's a picky eater (although not as much so as Ford) and her favorite food is bread, she'd eat it all day if I let her. I discovered yesterday that she will eat avocado but still gags on, strawberries, bananas, peas, and tangerines.
She's reserved for the most part but on occasion she'll chat your ear off and if she doesn't get what she wants she'll let you know, with an ear piercing shriek.
She likes her personal space, especially when it comes to her brothers. Seth, with his tender heart, has won a place in her heart though, so he can get away with more snuggles than the others.
She loves when others sing for her and/or pat a beat, she can't resist shaking her booty.
Clapping and peek a boo are some of her favorite games.
She figured out that she could climb the stairs and has made every effort (despite gates and many watchful eyes) to practice this as often as possible.

She still wears 3-6 month clothing.
Just recently she learned to enjoy her baths instead of screaming through them. Yay!
She's a joy!
She's a joy!
When Seth saw Isla with the tulle, he said, "Look Isla is a beautiful bridal!"
Isla wasn't that into the the tulle so instead I got out her shoes, she loves to go through her shoes!
"Hey girl, I found a sale at Macy's, you have to check it out, they have the cutest shoes."
Pure Joy!

Literal
Kane: "Momma, can I have breakfast?"
Me: "Yes, there's a poptart in the kitchen with your name on it."
Kane: (runs off to the kitchen and about 30 seconds pass) *whimper, sniff, sniff, whimper*
Me: (walk into the kitchen to see whats wrong) "Kane why aren't you eating your breakfast?"
Kane: (pulling out the most pathetic pouty voice) "Momma, there's no name on this poptart." *sob*
Me: "Sweetheart I was just kidding about the name on your poptart, its an expression. You can still eat it."
Kane: "Are you sure it's mine?" *whimper sniff*
Me: "Yes."
Kane: "Well can you get a pen from daddy's desk and write my name on it so everybody knows that its mine, puh-leeeease?" *sniff, sniff*
Kane: "Why?!" *whine*
Me: "Because we don't eat pen ink and it would be gross. Just eat your poptart sweetie."
Kane: "Oh." (cheerfully takes a huge bite of poptart)
In other news, Isla literally turned 1 month old yesterday!
And she literally wore her first ever dress! I would have put her in one much sooner but she's just finally growing into it!

Battle of the Bouncy Seat
Isla's first time in the bouncy seat.
She didn't hate it but prefers to be held.
In protest she tried sucking her thumb, something she knows mommy and daddy are totally against.
Fortunately for us, her eye hand coordination is still a little off. Where did that darn thumb go?!
Not long after this she began screaming, we gave in and picked her up.
Well played Isla, well played.

First Bath
In the midst of changing Isla's diaper this morning she peed.
I'm used to boy's peeing mid diaper change so reflexively I gasped and shielded my face with my hands only to find that it wasn't shooting up so much as cascading down onto the changing table where it was conveniently absorbed by her onsie.
She was soaked from her bum to her neck.
Perfect reason to give her, her first real bath!
The water startled her at first causing her to fuss but before I could comfort her, she had already calmed down and really seemed to like it. I would almost swear at one point she sighed in enjoyment.
One thing is for sure, it tuckered her out!
