Date Night

Jed and I went on a date a couple of weekends back.

We have different ideas of fun.

Mine is eating sushi.
Look at all that deliciousness!

His is shooting assault rifles.

And hand guns.

Btw, the kick back on a hand gun is terrifying.

Sushi is totally worth it, though.

I was in the living room texting with my sister about baby stuff when Kane ran in from the kitchen holding a chunk of his hair and said, "Mom, some of my hair fell off!"

I stared at his little fingers holding a lock of hair, confused for a moment, until I notice, in his other had a pair of scissors, he swiped from the junk drawer.

Despite the evidence he's still insisting his hair "fell out".

Baby Oakley

Soon after taking these,

Mr. Oakley arrived!

He is so sweet and tiny!

Tracy and Coty are adjusting well and really enjoying this time.

 I love tiny toes!

And tiny yawns!

In awe of this little bundle of joy!

Boots and Elves

I splurged and bought myself a pair of new boots.  I don't usually buy things like this because my life is just more flip flop than boot friendly.  However I really liked these and I found them for less than $40!

When they arrived in the mail I pulled them out of the box and went into our closet to try them on.   I saw/heard the boys standing in my bedroom spying on me.

While I was zipping them up I overheard this,

"Mom really looks like an elf now!" "Yeah maybe she is one, ask." "You ask." *giggling*

Um, so I "really look like and elf now" implies that I looked some what like an elf pre-boots. Sweet.

Oh well, I'm happy with my purchase!

6 Months

Last week Isla turned 6 months old.  To celebrate I took her to the doctor and she got 4 shots. I'll try to make 7 months a little less painful.

As usual for our kids, her stats have plateaued, she weighs, 12 lbs 7oz and is 24 3/4 inches long which puts her in the 5th percentile for both.  In other words she's tiny!

Thankfully she's healthy!

Happy six months baby girl!

Reflections

My awesome husband surprised me with a little something for my photography hobby!
 A reflector!

I've wanted one for awhile now but as photography is just a hobby for me, its hard for me to justify investing in it.  I spend a lot of time drooling over equipment but never money so when Jed spoils me with something its a huge deal!

Thank you babe!

Here's Ford getting a closer look.
He and his brothers were pretending that it was giant lollipop, this was just before he licked it. Lovely.

So here's a little glimpse into what a reflector can do.  Ford is standing next to our sliding glass door, there's plenty of light on his right side but not enough on his left.

I used the reflector to remedy that!

I'm looking forward to trying it out in all different lighting situations in the near future!

Just Another Day in the Life of Kane

Tuesday night, just before bed, we sent the boys upstairs to clean up their toy room.  Jed was working from home and I was beginning to decorate for Halloween.

Since no one was watching Kane decided this was the perfect time to swallow a toy.  Surprised that it hurt his throat going down he let out a yell and began crying.

It took us about 10 minutes to get him to confess what he had done and for him to show us the matching tire to the one he had swallowed.
Of course it has a broken, pointy, metal axle, of course.

So after calling my sister in law to ask her advice (she works at our local hospital and doesn't recommend taking a child there unless, "they are bleeding out and going to die.") we decided I would take him to the "big city" hospital with a peds. floor while Jed stayed home with the other four kids.

It really wasn't a terrible experience, we were there for about 3 hours and my awesome sister and her boyfriend hung out with us to help pass the time.

They took some x-rays that showed that there wasn't metal inside of him, meaning the tire he swallowed probably didn't have any of the axle still attached to it!  Woohoo!

We were sent home to wait for the tire to pass.

Fun times.

Halloween

Another year another Halloween.
This year we chose to do a Lorax theme.

Kane as the Lorax, Evan as the Once Ler and Seth as one of the bears, Pipsqueak.

Although it was a little rushed at the end due to a unexpected trip to the ER with Kane, it was so much fun planning and pulling their costumes together!

Isla was a lobster and Ford was Eeyore again. Ford's not upset about being Eeyore for the second year in a row, no he's upset because we put socks on him and he hates socks.  Yay!

Some how we were able to squeeze in some pumpkin carving in between when Jed got home from work and when Jay, Jamie and crew came over for dinner and trick or treating.

  Nice work babe!
