Happy Birthday Kane!

We went out to dinner to celebrate his birthday over the weekend.  We got pizza at our favorite place downtown! Yummy!

On his actual birthday we celebrated with a trip to the splash pad, which was sadly closed (boo!), a dough nut cake and gifts!

As we headed home from the splash pad, Kane peed his pants, which some how resulted in the lack of shorts in these pics and then just before we were about to have "cake" and open presents he fell and gave himself a minor black eye, hence his swollen right eye.
Typical Kane.

Despite all that we had a great night celebrating the joy of the last three years with our Kane!

Love you bud!

Twinsies

Ok, so not really but they have similar features with their fair skin and ginger hair, although Kane is a strawberry blonde while Mags a more obvious redhead.  Not to mention the adorable poutie lips which of course you can't make out in these pictures because Kane is being crazy.  As far as personalities go they couldn't be more different with Maggie being every bit the little girly princess and to counter her, Kane is all boy with a side of goofball.  I love that even though Kane is our little genetic anomaly (which we absolutely love about him) , he has a cousin that can relate!

Bocca Felice

When we camp at Amelia Island we always head to the downtown area to window shop.  Our first time there we came upon a cupcake shop that had just opened.  The flavors sounded amazing and the cakes looked even better!  However after forking over the $3-$4 a pop we quickly discovered they were dried out, and didn't taste much like what was promised.  Barring the Dessert Lady, most places tend to be like this!  For someone who used to go to graduation parties in high school just to taste test the cakes, this is a huge disappointment!

So when my sister in law started Bocca Felice, her cupcakery, I was a little skeptical.  I will admit her pictures and flavor lists were enticing though, such as the funnel cake cupcake and the waffle cupcake.  Those sounded delicious but I had been burned so many times, I just couldn't get my hopes up!

Let me tell you though, she has pulled it off!  I've never tasted a more delicious cupcake!  They're moist, light and perfectly flavored!  In one afternoon I ate at least 3.

My only disappointment was that I didn't have a chance in my short visit to try other flavors!  Oh but that'll be remedied when she visits for spring break this coming year! She thinks I'm joking when I tell her that she'll be spending most of her time in my kitchen baking but seriously, I'm not.

I'm sorry I ever doubted you Becca!

Ok, excuse me while I go make cupcakes from a box and cry.  :)

The Lake

We spent a day with my SIL and family.   We visited the yacht club they joined this year where the kids swam and played on the playground.  The boys and I finally got to try Bocca Felice's finest oreo cupcakes!  Oh my goodness they are amazing.  More on that later though. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening just hanging out enjoying each other's company.  It had been over two years since we had last seen them!  Its hard to believe how big the girls are getting!  The only bummer was that Taylor was with her dad the week we were in town and we didn't get a chance to see her.  However there are rumors they might make it to Florida for spring break this year!  We're all looking forward to it!

Wipe Out

My mom lives in a small apartment that doesn't accommodate my brood of children so while in Grass Lake we stayed here,
generously provided by my mom's friend Missy. The boys were thrilled, in fact staying in the RV may have been the highlight of the whole trip for them. It was made even better by what it was parked next to.

Miss Missy has a sweet above ground pool. They lined up the rafts to see if they could jump from one end of the pool to the other. They quickly dubbed their game, Wipe Out.

Notice Evan?  About 5 minutes after submerging in the pool his poor lips turned blue.   He has this problem at home in sub tropical weather, I knew it'd probably be an issue in MI.  Poor guy.

Seth for some reason doesn't have the same issue.

Kane made a quick appearance outside, dipping his toes in the pool before retreating back inside.

Ford was a little reluctant at first....

but

with some help from grandma got over it quickly!

Evan finally warmed up and joined his little brothers in the fun!
